This is a documentary about a boy (Ben Underwood) who has taught himself to use echo location to navigate around the world. Ben Underwood is blind, but has managed to do some truly extraordinary feats.

He's cool, but his "sonar" can take him only so far. He can't use it to gauge the depths of holes or anything. Now, if he could somehow hone this skill so he could do anything, THAT would be a tremendous feat, ya dig?

Jason Roberts' nonfiction book "A Sense of the World" is about "the Blind Traveler," James Holman born in 1786 who used echo location in a similar manner, hearing the echo of the sound his bootsoles made on the ground to navigate his travels throughout the world without a cane or guide.
