I think more rich people will buy it. Rich people LOVE to show off, and what better way to be "better than the jones'" than telling your neighbor "i am greener than you are!". I doubt it will happen, but if people thought like that, then maybe the price would come down far enough for me to afford one.

every tesla rep keeps advertising the car is around 100k and when i read up on it its 120k?! wth i mean i'm not a baller like that but i'm looking into them and 100k "might" be do-able but 120k+options+tax. ur talking 150k maybe ::deal breaker:: i'm all for this car but they started at under 100k and claimed prices were gonna go down eventually but they just keep going up! and yes i know about the gearbox. they gotta start eating costs man. google saturn sky amp for a cheaper alternative

I am a blue collar working class person who makes less than 40k a year. I do not understand why people think that $100,000 it to much for an: -All electric, Lithium Ion Battery car -Does 0 to 60 faster than a Ferrari,(which costs $125,000) -Hand made, custom built on a Lotus all Aluminum racing chassis -Looks frikkin' hotter than heck. I mean , come on how in the hell are you going to get a Wal-frikkin'-Mart version of this that even compares? Duh, try making one of these in your Garage!

Nicely said, I would even say that $100k is a bargain for this car considering you probably won't have to re charge for many weeks, and when you do it costs far less than filling up at the pump. Not to mention no emissions or sound pollution. This car proves that electric motors are the future.

Yeah, look the MSRP for a new 2006 Hummer H1 is, $125,000 to $136,000 . How much is the latest Porsche Carrera S goes for $96,000 new. So why is the journalist constantly gagging out the "super high cost" of the Tesla? They are just constantly trying to down the electric car, because they are not believers, period.

Too bad the reporter was so tall -- his knees were touching his chin when he got in the car. With all those lithium-ion batteries, the Tesla must get REALLY hot. How do they keep itthe batteries from melting each other?

that actually is the most challenging part of building an electric powered vehicle. The battery pack has a dedicated cooling- and also heating- system since the cells would get killed when charged at low temperatures either.
