Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigran is the sixth studio album by Wyclef Jean. The first single is "Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)" which features Akon, Niia & Lil' Wayne. The second single is "Any Other Day" featuring Norah Jones. Other guests include Mary J. Blige, Paul Simon, Chamillionaire, Shakira, T.I., will.i.am and Serj Tankian of System of a Down. Despite not being officially released as a single, a music video was made for the song "Fast Car". The first track on the album features Wyclef speaking, noting that the world has radically changed since his album The Carnival (Vol 1.), and sets the stage for the socially conscious lyrics of this follow-up.
In the chorus, Akon sings, "See I'mma tell you, like Wu told me, Cash rules everything, around me." The Wu' is a reference to the Wu Tang Clan, who produced a song called "C.R.E.A.M." (Cash Rules Everything Around Me) in 1994. Akon samples the "dolla', dolla' bill, y'all" chant from the chorus of
C.R.E.A.M., which was coined by Ian Brooks.
