I would not bet on that.
Gold is so valuable in its use in science, and so rare, that it's really amazing to think (or believe) that the pre-historic man "praized" it just because it was "pretty". Among its use, one could point out its use in: atomic level experiments; nanotechnology; biomedicine; electronics (really imp
ortant here); and, more important of all, its use in space technology.

In space technology it is absolutely vital, because of its reflectivity and corrosion resistance. It also protects against radiation. And etc... Check Hubble, Columbia, spacesuits and and all those "expensive little things" used in space exploration and you'll figure out that NASA and all other space agency in this planet are sort of "gold addicted".

There is, up to this day, no substitute to gold in space technology and its use in high reliability electronic devices.

Of course you will, if you know that the gold will remain untoched by the person giving you the bread, and that the same gold will be back in your hand once again. That's how things worked in the past, and that's why it's the wisest choice to back up a currency. It's valuable in ways that you can
print money to regulate the economy without real devaluation, just by fixing how much gold the bill is backed up with acording to its market value.

In other words: if there is an economic turmoil, a currecy backed by gold will remain valuable because gold values. At any time, everywhere.

You bring up an excellent point gotveggieoil that voting really isn't enough. I knew Obama and McCain really weren't very different and BOTH voted for the outrageous 700 billion dollar sellout of the American people. That's why I wrote in Ron Paul on my ballot and I wish millions of others had done the same rather than voting for the lesser of two evils.
